Some important Engine tuning tips
Oils and Lubricants-Use high quality oils and lubricants when tuning up your car. One of the most important thing while doing a regular tune up is to top up or completely change the fluids in the car. Change motor oil every 3,000 miles to get the best performance out of your engine. Use coolant additives such as Water from Redline to bring down the temperature of your engine. Oil filters should also be changed every other time you change your oil.
Such as the brakes and clutch, all fluid and oil levels, and the operation of any other systems that are not used or checked regularly. If the tune up is performed in spring weather or early summer, the air conditioning system should be checked as well, as it likely will not have been used for many months. When you perform any diagnostics it's not much good to get, for example a voltage reading should be known correctly with what the correct reading should be. Since testing has become an exact science, diagnostics have to go in a certain order or else the test results which you will get could be meaningless. So you need to find the latest factory diagnostic sequences and specifications for this purpose. |
Engine tuning is the adjustment, modification with design of internal combustion engines to yield optimal performance, to increase an engine's power output, economy, or durability. Tuning describes a wide variety of adjustments and modifications, from the routine adjustment of the carburetor and ignition system to significant engine overhauls. At the other end, performance tuning of an engine can involve revisiting some of the design decisions taken at quite an early stage in the development of the engine. Your car should receive a tune-up every two years or 30,000 miles, whatever comes first. During this tune-up process a car may receive some new parts that will hopefully keep it out of the shop for a while or a month.
